"Mummy, why are we Muslim? Everyone at school keeps asking about it." "That's okay. It's better to ask and understand." From Ramadan to Jesus, young Hanna wants to find out about her Islamic faith. Join Hanna and her family in this beautifully illustrated book! Do you want to know more about Islam but are afraid to ask? Are you stuck at answering children's questions about the religion? Well, help is at hand with this beautiful picture book for those of all faiths or none. After frequently being asked about her religion, Hanna - a mixed-race British girl - wants to find out more. Join her as she discovers more from her parents and grandparents, and starts to feel more comfortable in her self. Answering the questions that children (and many adults!) have, this will delight young and old alike - and prove a useful tool for schools and educational groups. The story has been "highly commended" in a contest by the prestigious British publisher Faber and Faber.

Review

"A valuable tool for greater understanding." Mishal Husain, broadcaster; "A little dazzler - I wish this book had been available when my own children were small. This is a story that simply glows with life and light." Christina Longden, author and Kirklees Writer in Residence; "We Are Muslims is a timely, important, and very adorable book. It portrays Islam in the positive light that it is - that it is not so different than Christianity or other faith traditions; that there is great diversity in terms of the people who follow the faith; and that Muslims are an integral part of the fabric of Western societies. With illustrations from an award-winning artist, it is a must-have book for Muslims and non-Muslims alike." Dr Carrie York Al-Karam, president of Alkaram Institute, United States; "A beautifully illustrated narrative that brings to life the heart of Islamic teachings. This book will be well placed in Early Years settings and upon the bookshelf of enquiring minds eager to learn about the faith of their Muslim friends." Nagebah Hayel, Montessori Early Years practitioner and Islamic Studies teacher, Liverpool, UK
